WHEN THE MASK COMES OFF
I’m still knee-deep in Leviticus 13 — and this next part hit me right in the gut. Once a person was diagnosed with leprosy, they had to tear their clothes, leave their hair messy, cover their upper lip (basically mask up) and shout, “Unclean! Unclean!” wherever they went.
It sounds cruel — but in a holiness culture, it protected everyone else from infection. It also reminded the infected person daily: you can’t hide what’s wrong. You can’t pretend you’re fine when you’re not. I don’t have leprosy. You don’t either (hopefully). But spiritually? We still love to cover up. We hide the mess. We try to blend in. We slap on our Sunday best, mask our wounds, and say, “I’m good!” when inside we’re raw and infected.
Here’s the hope: Jesus didn’t avoid lepers — He touched them (Mark 1:40–42). He took their uncleanness on Himself. He became the Outcast so we could be brought in. So take off the mask. Let Him see the raw places. He already knows. And He still chooses you.
TODAY’S CHALLENGE: STOP HIDING WHAT’S BROKEN. UNCOVER IT BEFORE THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN MAKE YOU WHOLE. (PSALM 32:5)
Onward,
Chari
